Here are the parks and playgrounds open to the public in or near Capitol Hill. Some are  the property of the DC government, and some the property of the National Park Service. (The list does not include all the many “pocket parks.”)

Kingman and Heritage Islands Park (hiking and biking trails; fishing) 
Anacostia River (entrance is at the back of the RFK Stadium Parking Lot 6, approximately 0.1 miles south of Benning Rd, NE.)

Kingman and Heritage Islands are the property of the District of Columbia Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, but managed by Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region, a 501 c3 non-profit organization.
